Tampa Tribune pop music critic Curtis Ross and TBO Extra editor Rommie Johnson visit with Michael Zabrek, Santiago Rodriguez and Jason Stander of Tampa-based instrumental band Worldwide Zoo.
The guys talk about how they got started, how their sound has developed over the years and about their debut album, which they recorded live. We learned that they love jazz, world music, metal, punk and ska, as well as that amazing cabbage they put on the fish tacos at Dunedin Brewery.
We also learned that the euphonium is the most cuddly of the brass instruments, but whatever you do, don't ask about the trombone.
Their CD, "Worldwide Zoo," can be purchased at Mojo Books & Music and Vinyl Fever, both in Tampa, or you can order it on their Web site, worldwidezoo.net.
To hear more of Worldwide Zoo's music, visit their MySpace or their Web site.
You can also see Worldwide Zoo perform live Saturday, May 1 at Dunedin Brewery in Dunedin.
To listen on your iPod or other mobile device, download the MP3 here.
