BROOKSVILLE - It is a known fact that during the holiday season, blood donations slow down because people focus on getting through the holidays, regular donors are traveling; there are many different reasons. Approximately four and a half million American lives are saved each year because of lifesaving blood transfusions made possible by blood donors around the nation.
LifeSouth is inviting everyone to donate blood at the 20th Annual '8 on Your Side' blood drive, from noon to 8 p.m.Wednesday, Dec. 17.
The drive will be held at Lowe's, located at 7117 Broad Street in Brooksville and 4780 Commercial Way in Spring Hill.
All donors will receive MOSI free admission tickets, a recognition item and cholesterol screening. Donors must be at least 16 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more, and must show a photo I.D. at the time of donation. Sixteen-year-olds require written parental consent. LifeSouth is a nonprofit, volunteer blood center supplying more than 110 medical centers in Florida, Alabama and Georgia.
