TAMPA - ABC has canceled three sophomore series: "Pushing Daisies," "Dirty Sexy Money" and "Eli Stone."
The producers of these underperforming dramas were notified Thursday afternoon by ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson.
Bryan Fuller, producer of "Daisies," told the Los Angeles Times that McPherson was complimentary and "thanked everyone for putting their first foot forward. He never said we're canceled, but that was the gist of it. He said they're proud of the show and not ordering episodes at this time. I could read between the lines and interpret that the door could be open in the future, but I think that the gist of that is that we weren't going to be moving forward on ABC."
ABC plans to run the 13 produced episodes of each series. All three debuted in 2007 and all were gaining viewers until the writers strike.
Upon returning this fall, none of them could gain momentum.
"Daisies" stars Lee Pace as a pie maker with the strange ability to bring the dead back to life. "Dirty Sexy Money" stars Peter Krause as a lawyer trying to hold onto his ethics while working for a corrupt, rich family. "Eli" stars Jonny Lee Miller as a lawyer whose "visions" could be prophecies from God.
