ST. PETE BEACH - Gear up for Saturday's Woodstock re-creation by seeing it on the big screen tonight. WMNF is sponsoring a screening of "Woodstock: The Director's Cut" at the Beach Theatre.
"Four hundred thousand people were at the festival, but millions saw the movie and felt like they were there," WMNF program director Randy Wynne says. "They sort of assimilated the feeling of the event."
The new version features performances by bands left out of the original release, including Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Grateful Dead.
"The movie is amazing," Wynne says. "It was filmed so well. It's no cheesy documentary. They really made a classic music film. It's given Woodstock the legacy it has."
