Whether you are looking for a laugh or to vent a little anger, two new movies opening today at least provide an opportunity to get out of the rain:
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby and Diego's worried about being too domesticated, but it's Sid who sets events in motion (as usual) when he decides to steal a dinosaur egg and ends up taken to an underground world where dinosaurs.rule. Guess who comes to the rescue. 94 minutes. (PG; for some mild rude humor and peril).
Public Enemies
Michael Mann-directed period piece gangster flick stars Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, the Indiana boy who grew up to be a bank robber, and Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, the FBI agent who tracks him down. While both leads are good, the sum unfortunately is far less than the parts, as the movie never really soars or gives any sort of insight into Dillinger. 140 minutes. (R; gangster violence and some profanity)
