TAMPA - Go check the attic and rummage through the garage. The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts wants your photos. Not just any old pics — they want the ones from your free love and war protest days.

The museum, in conjunction with the iconic "Burk Uzzle's Woodstock and Other Americana" photography exhibit, is looking for unique photos and memorabilia from the Flower Child days.

Photos submitted by Tampa area residents will be on display during the exhibit, which runs Sept. 17 through Nov. 7.

In addition to photos from Woodstock, organizers are seeking images from throughout the era, including Civil Rights events and Vietnam War protests, as well as photos that showcase fashion trends.

"Anybody of a certain age will have memories of what they were doing at that time," said Joanne Milani, the museum's executive director.

This August marks the 40th anniversary of the legendary Woodstock festival, which featured memorable live performances by Jimi Hendrix, the Who, Janis Joplin and more on a muddy, rain-soaked farm in Bethel, N.Y.

"I may not have been at Woodstock, but you remember the energy of the time," Milani said. "Just like people now, you may not have anything to do with the war, but it's a part of your awareness."

The museum will accept photo reproductions only, Milani said. Photos can be submitted by mail or in person from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday until Sept. 1.

Submissions should include any pertinent information about the photo and must include your name, address, phone and e-mail address. Submission forms are available online at www.fmopa.org by clicking on Future Exhibitions.

For more information, contact the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 200 N. Tampa St., Tampa; (813) 221-2222.
