Put Your Best Photos Forward

Spend a day at the dog park or time at your veterinarian's office and you will find yourself bragging about your best friend. How long do you chat with someone before you find yourself showing off pet photos that you know are the best ever developed? Next weekend you have the opportunity to show your pet off to the world.

The Humane Society of the Nature Coast is sponsoring the Open Hearts Calendar Photo Contest and your pet could be "Pet of the Month" in the 2010 Pet Calendar. Previous winners have been dogs of all breeds, cats and kittens, horses, goats, birds, group photos and holiday photos. Pets of every type are welcome. All photos will be displayed at the Nature Coast Pet Expo, March 21-22.

Contest Rules

1. Entry fee is $10 per photo (regardless of how many pets are in the photo).

2. You can enter as many photos as you like.

3. Name and phone numbers must be on the back of photos. No names on the front of photos are allowed.

4. Photos cannot be returned.

5. Photos must contain pets only - no people.

6. All photos will be displayed at the 2009 Pet Expo.

7. If photos are digital they need to be a minimum 300 dpi resolution for printing purposes.

8. Photos can be entered four ways: By e-mail; posted mail sent to Open Hearts Photo Contest, Humane Society of the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 10328, Brooksville, FL 34603; dropped off at the Humane Society of the Nature Coast or at the Nature Cost Pet Expo.

9. Photos must be received no later than 4 p.m. Sunday, March 22.

10. Entry fees must accompany all photos.

11. All employees of the Humane Society of the Nature Coast, Inc. are ineligible.

12. Winners will be announced the week of April 15, listed in For Pet's Sake and on the Humane Society of the Nature Coast's Web site. Winners will also be contacted by the Humane Society.

13. There will 25 winning photos selected. Two winners will represent each month of the year and one will be selected for the cover of the calendar. Every photo entered in the contest will appear in the 2010 Open Hearts Calendar photo collage pages.

14. Winners will be chosen by a panel of community judges.

15. The Humane Society of the Nature Coast, Inc. reserves the right to disqualify any photos deemed inappropriate for this event and the entry fee would be refunded.

All photos become the property of the Humane Society of the Nature Coast and may be used for promotional purposes.

All proceeds from the Open Hearts Calendar and Photo Contest benefit the homeless pets at the Humane Society of the Nature Coast.
