Whenever Kathy Griffin opens her mouth, an incident may ensue. Here are three of her more notorious efforts.
The Dakota Fanning Joke: While covering the red carpet at the 2005 Golden Globes for E!, Griffin told viewers 10-year-old Dakota Fanning had entered rehab. Steven Spielberg, who had directed Fanning in "War of the Worlds," demanded an apology. E! gave one. Griffin didn't. She called the Spielberg reprimand "a career high."
The Emmy Speech: Accepting an Emmy for "My Life on the D-List" in 2007, Griffin said "I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus." And that was the polite part. Griffin said she was spoofing celebrities who thank the Lord in their acceptance speeches, "as if Jesus didn't have anything better to do than make sure somebody gets their People's Choice Award."
New Year's Eve 2008: CNN put her on live with Anderson Cooper — didn't anybody see this coming? Griffin's response to a heckler is hilariously offensive. We can't print it here but you can find it on YouTube.
Griffin on Florida: "I play more cities in Florida than any other state. The conclusion that I am drawing is that Floridians are extremely intelligent and have no boundaries as far as comedy, and I know them to be wonderful audiences. Or they're crazy and I have personal issues."
