Comedian Helen Keaney returns to stand-up with an act that draws on her experiences as a mother and a television host for HSN.

TAMPA - After a comedy career that included hosting seven cable TV series and playing clubs throughout the country, Helen Keaney changed tracks and became a host on the Home Shopping Network this past summer.
As it turns out, though, you can take the girl out of the funny, but you can't take the funny out of the girl.
On Sunday, Keaney returns to stand-up with a one-off gig at the Tampa Improv. "I'm trying out some new material based on my life as a mother, wife and HSN host," says Keaney, a former self-professed shopaholic who relocated from Los Angeles to Tampa.
A native New Yorker, she started out at the Manhattan Punchline, The Comic Strip and the Boston Comedy Club in New York City. She appeared on A&E's "An Evening at the Improv," Lifetime's "Girls' Night Out," VH-1's "Stand-Up Spotlight" and Comedy Central's "Make Me Laugh."
Her cable series included Comedy Central's "Short Attention Span Theater," Discovery Health's "Sex Drive," and the Style Network's "You're Invited."
"I do a lot of material about pop culture, and being a mother and a wife," says Keaney, who last toured with two other female comics as 3 Blonde Moms.
"It's clean, PG-rated stuff," she says. "I don't play to the rowdy late-night crowd. I'm more for people who can read."
