Airline pilot Capt. Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger, will serve as the grand marshal at the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day.
The parade's theme, "A Cut Above the Rest," will pay tribute to everyday heroes and efforts to always improve.
Sullenberger safely landed U.S. Airways flight 1549 on the Hudson River in New York City on Jan. 15.
"Captain Sully saved the lives of 155 people and is an excellent example of the everyday American hero," said Jeffrey Throop, acting president of the Tournament of Roses, in a prepared statement.
"With his theme, A Cut Above the Rest, President Gary DiSano wanted to honor those who strive to make every effort better than the last. Sullenberger has certainly shown how we can do that and we are honored to have him host the 2010 festivities."
On Jan. 1, Sullenberger will ride in a car during the Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif., and toss the coin before the Rose Bowl Game.
