'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'
You know how Roger Ebert tends to see the good in most movies, even the ones other critics slam? He starts his review of this summer's blockbuster sequel by calling it "a horrible experience of unbearable length, briefly punctuated by three or four amusing moments. One of these involves a dog-like robot humping the leg of the heroine." Caveat emptor, legions of Megan Fox-loving gearheads. PG-13, 149 minutes
'Cheri'
Long before Demi and Ashton there were Lea and Cheri, a courtesan in her late 40s and her much younger lover. Michelle Pfeiffer reunites with "Dangerous Liaisons" director Stephen Frears, this time to play the more experienced (but still ethereally lovely) woman; Rupert Friend is the callow love of her life. The story was written by Colette, whose notorious personal history included an affair with her 20-year-old stepson. R, 92 minutes
'Blood: the Last Vampire'
Hey look, a vampire movie! With less than a month to go until "New Moon" hits theaters (but who's counting?), more adventurous fans of the genre may want to check out this international co-production about a 400-year-old teen (played by Korean star Gianna Jun) who goes undercover at an American military base to assassinate some demons. The action scenes are CGI heavy in this remake of the animated film of the same name. R, 89 minutes
