I started to write this over a month ago, but I observed something rather remarkable-foreboding. The Republicans-conservatives were rather blase in completely dismissing the eight-year record of doubling the $5 trillion national debt, while blasting President Obama and the Democrats on the nearly $800 billion stimulus bill. In addition they ignored the nearly $3 trillion bailout of the banks and Wall Street with hardly a whimper between September '08 and January, '09. ...more

After reading Bud Morgan's recent editorial titled, "Doesn't anyone apologize anymore?" I am compelled to point out that the precondition for an apology is the recognition that one had done something inappropriate, a breach of manners, a mistake, a faux pas. However, the current style of "in your face" deception currently in vogue does not admit error, as amply demonstrated by our soon to be replaced president and vice president. When asked what he considered to be his greatest mistake, President Bush was hard pressed to find any fault or flaw in his disastrous administration. When the absence of WMDs in Iraq was called to his attention, his response was "So what?" Apologize? ...more
