If you attended the Second Annual "Celebration of Life" Fashion Show, to benefit Relay for Life of Highlands County, I know you will not miss it next year. This show will certainly have a growing following year after year, not only for its professionalism, but for the message it conveyed from Highland's Realtors. There are those that care about our fellow citizens that have survived this horrible disease. While its attributes were obvious, I would like to bring much deserved recognition to a few special volunteers who gave that professional edge, the hard working, Miracle-producing crew of make-up and hair stylists backstage. The "before" and "after" of each model was nothing short of stunning. A seasoned professional hair artist, Juan Pablo Alvarado headed the dressing room crew. Back stage, he started to work his magic at 7 a.m. His goal was to have every cancer survivor feel like this was their special day to look like they have never looked before. Together with Lorie Guelff's Studio of Health and Beauty's expert team of top make-up artists and hair stylists: Hector Ramirez, Kimmie Stamboni and Lily Perez-Maldanado, all 20 models became shining stars. Every model "glowed" down the runway. ...more

It was my pleasure last Saturday to attend the Lake Placid Garden Club's fashion show at the Lake Placid High School. It was clear how much hard work had gone into these beautiful surroundings. The "main" room was a "show place," lovely table cloths and napkins and small gift packages for all. The food was delicious and quickly served by the high school students. Then came the fashion show, with styles to please anyone. Models were the garden club ladies, showing off, who really entertained us with graceful walks, struts and some dancing. These clothes were generously donated by: The Lake Placid Feed and Western Wear, Loie's Boutique, The Plum Tree, Steve and Company, Sue's Cubby Hole, and Tropical Island Wear. ...more
